Brett's Prince cover forced offline
It has been announced that Brett Anderson's recent cover version of the classic Prince song 'When Doves Cry' was taken down because of potential legal action from the artists publishers.
Prince has a very strict policy on music piracy/the use of his work and despite giving credit to the artist, Brett's management were requested to remove his cover version of the classic hit which Brett had performed as part of a series of new Youtube videos.
Universal Music requested that Brett should gain a licence to continue showing the video but it was also made clear that a licence would not be granted so the video was subsequently removed.

Surprise collaboration at JD show
Brett Anderson performed a version of the classic The Velvet Underground song 'Venus In Furs' along with Reverend And The Makers singer John McClure and ex-Libertines/Dirty Pretty Things vocalist Carl Barat.
It was a collaboration between the three celebrated musicians at the end of the recent JD set shows in London. Brett also played a selection of songs from both his solo career to date and his Suede back catalogue.
The shows were all back by musicians from Nashville's Silver Coronet band.
The full setlist for Brett's show was:

'Slow Attack' tracklisting revealed
The tracklisting for Brett Anderson's third solo album 'Slow Attack' has been announced.
As expected the album will feature new songs 'Wheatfields' and 'The Hunted' which were both debuted at shows in Chile and Peru in June.
It is written and produced by Brett with guitarist and producer Leo Abrahams and will include 11 tracks in total. It will be released in October on Brett's own record label BA Songs. Despite considering releasing the album under a different moniker, he has also confirmed that as with his previous two albums it will be released under his own name.
Other than Brett and Leo it is currently unclear what other musicians were involved in the recording of the album although it is said to be heavily influenced by woodwind and guitar rather than the piano and strings that dominated Brett's last solo album the acoustic 'Wilderness'. That album featured only Brett and cellist Amy Langley performing.
Live shows will be announced in support of the new album nearer the time of its release. In the meantime demo versions of the new songs will be available on You Tube from 7th August - You Tube - BrettAndersonVideo - where videos of recording sessions from Brett's first two albums are also available.
There is also now a new You Tube channel from this website, Suede Music, which is devoted to hosting live and promo videos from Suede, Brett Anderson and The Tears - You Tube - Suede Music
The full tracklisting for 'Slow Attack' is:
Hymn
Wheatfields
The Hunted
Frozen Roads
Summer
Pretty Widows
The Swans
Ashes Of Us
Scarecrows And Lilacs
Julian's Eyes
Leave Me Sleeping

Futon/Goo Update
Former Suede drummer Simon Gilbert has confirmed that his current band Futon are still in existence, just under a new name.
It had been rumoured for some time that Futon had changed their name to Goo after the departure of singer Gene Kasidit. However the official Futon website and messageboard was still running until recently suggesting that the band was still under this name. Then when the website closed down it became unclear as to whether the band was still going, had split or simply changed their name as previously rumoured.
Now Simon, who joined the Thai based band in 2005 and has appeared on their last two albums, has confirmed that the band are now called Goo.
The band played club NME in Bangkok on 1st August and have finally completed their new album 'Siamese Tease'. The release of 'Simese Tease' was put on hold after the departure of Kasidit but the 6 track mini album is now ready - although a release date is yet to be confirmed.

Brett debuts new material
Brett Anderson debuted two new songs during his South American concerts in Chile and Peru in June.
The songs, set to feature on his third solo album 'Slow Attack', are titled 'The Hunted' and 'Wheatfields' (some fans initially thought the title was 'Wheatmelds'). Both songs are epic sounding and confirm the 'cinematic, soundtrack' style that Brett has previously described the new material as sounding like. The live performances of both new songs from the gig in Peru are available to watch and listen to here from You Tube - Funeral Mantra/WheatfieldsThe Hunted
Despite a dazzling show in Peru, the gig in Santiago, Chile had to be postponed at the last minute due to immigration issues involving bogus work permits sent by the gig promoter in Peru. The show in Chile was therefore put back 4 days until 16th June. Despite fans intial frustration the eventual show was deemed a success.
Both shows were full electric gigs with backing band rather than the acoustic concerts Brett had favoured throughout 2008.
The full setlist for the show in Lima, Peru was:
Funeral Mantra
Wheatfields
The Hunted
Back To You
To The Winter
Love Is Dead
By The Sea
Everything Will Flow
The Empress
The 2 Of Us
The Asphalt World
Killing Of A Flashboy
She
Filmstar
Can't Get Enough
Trash
Beautiful Ones
The Wild Ones
So Young
Saturday Night
Music journal Q magazine has also revealed that other new song titles from Brett's forthcoming album include 'The Swans', 'Pretty Widows' and 'Scarecrows And Lilacs'. 'Slow Attack' is set for release on Brett's label BA Songs in late 2009.
