Brett performs new album in full
Brett Anderson has performed all of his new album 'Wilderness' during a special acoustic show at Mermaid Theatre in London on Monday 7th July.

The show ran in 3 parts starting with the debuting of the new album before going on to play classics after the interval and ending with a 4 song encore.
Brett provided all guitar and piano and was backed on many of the songs by cellist Amy Langley. He also performed two duets with french singer Emmanuelle Seigner. Firstly they performed the new version of the existing solo song 'Back To You'. Later, during the second half of the show, they sang the song 'Les Mots Simples' (Simple Words) which the pair had recorded together as a release independent from Brett's solo work earlier in the year.

'Wilderness' released on USB
Excited Brett Anderson fans have been receiving exclusive copies of his second solo album 'Wilderness' on USB stick format.
The album has been made available only to those who have bought tickets for his forthcoming acoustic show at the Mermaid Theatre in London on 7th July.
According to fans the album includes 9 songs and features new versions of existing Brett solo tracks 'Clowns' (a b-side from debut single 'Love Is Dead') and 'Back To You'. It is the 4th version of 'Back To You' available after previous versions by Pleasure, Brett Anderson and an Alan Moulder re-mix. The new version of 'Back To You' is a duet between Brett and French singer/actress Emmanuelle Seigner. Brett previously perfomed a duet with Seigner for her band Ultra Orange on the track 'Les Mots Simples'.
'Wilderness' also features the songs 'Blessed' and 'A Different Place' which Brett previously premiered at european gigs in late 2007/early 2008.
So far fans have been reacting very positively towards the new material with many claiming it to be amongst Brett's best work. The minimalist album was recorded with cellist Amy Langley in just one week.

Album title revealed
It has been revealed that the title of Brett Anderson's second solo album will be 'Wilderness'.
The title is said to reflect Brett's outlook on his current position as a music artist within the industry as a marginalised outsider. Both his debut solo album and single failed to enter the UK top 40 singles sales chart when they were released in 2007. This is a far cry from his days in Suede when during the 1990's they enjoyed a string of top 10 singles and number 1 albums. Even his short spell in follow up band The Tears saw them achieve a top 10 hit and top 20 album.
However Brett is still upbeat about the new album and his future despite the decline in his popularity. In a recent statement on his official website he said "I made the album with the purest of intentions: to create a beautiful suite of songs untethered by second guessing markets and playlists and music biz bullshit. I have no record company, no publisher, and a dwindling audience but I have never been more confident and focussed about what I am doing as an artist. The title of the album reflects this sense of where I see myself."
It is currently still unclear when the album will be released after Brett revealed that he no longer has a record deal. His previous label was Drowned In Sound Recordings who released his self-titled debut album.

Brett completes second album
Brett Anderson has announced that he has finished the recording and mixing of his second solo album in a personal message posted on his official website.
He said that the album took just 7 days to record with cellist Amy Langley supporting and he described it as "simple, personal, bleak, raw, romantic and soulful."
Brett also stated that he no longer has a record label or publisher leading to speculation that the eventual release of the album may only be in small numbers and exclusively through his official website although all release details have yet to be confirmed. The album's title and tracklisting have also yet to be revealed.
He claims the new album is "one of the most satisfying records I have ever been involved with" and "I have never been more confident and focussed about what I am doing as an artist."
The full message reads:
ok, so the album is all done and ready to roll. i recorded everything live to 2 inch tape with no click tracks and just one other musician playing cello. the whole thing was recorded and mixed in 7 sunny days in May and it was one of the most satisfying records i have ever been involved with. it is simple, personal, bleak ,raw , romantic and soulful and is full of the jagged edges and hiss and crackle of the studio. of course i love the songs, there would be something very wrong if i didn't.some of you will love them too and some of you will probably hate what i have done.that's just how it works. as long as your constructive critism doesn't become personal invective i am genuinely fine with that. i made the album with the purest of intentions: to create a beautiful suite of songs untethered by second guessing markets and playlists and music biz bullshit . i have no record company, no publisher , and a dwindling audience but i have never been more confident and focussed about what i am doing as an artist. the title of the album reflects this sense of where i see myself but you will have to wait for that.
there will be some new You Tube films appearing very soon of bits and pieces of new songs in their rawest form so keep your eyes peeled....
i suppose i should tell you that personally i have never in my life been happier than the time that i made this record. it's a wonderful thing to reach 40 and realize that your best days are still ahead of you..
a bientot.. x

Brett gives away his piano
Brett Anderson has given away his own piano that he bought in 1993 to a fan on his official website.
It comes after Brett bought a brand new piano and had no space left for the old one. It was used by Brett when writing classic Suede songs 'By The Sea', 'Lazy', 'Down' and 'Another No One' as well as the melodies for 'The Next Life' and 'Sleeping Pills' from Suede's debut album.
To win the upright Stanton & Sons piano all that fans on Brett's official forum had to do was say why they wanted it and Brett would then chose who should receive it.
This amazing collector's item was won by forum user 'Simon Only' who had to collect it from a rehearsal studio in West London.
